GE SmartAire Cut-to-Fit Replacement Carbon Pre-Filter

Carbon Filter Material For Microwave Fan.
This was purchased to replace the carbon filter material in the "exhaust" fan of the over the stove microwave oven. I use the word exhaust liberally, as most of the fans only recirculate the air through a pair of washable wire grease filters, then through the carbon filter to reduce odor, and then back in to the room. The carbon material is held in an aluminum frame that may be carefully opened and the carbon material replaced. Just cut the new piece to fit the frame, fasten the frame back in position and you have a new carbon filter. I usually double the thickness as it is in the output stream of the fan and doesn't impede the flow of air to a great extent. There is enough carbon material in this sheet to suggest it may be a "lifetime" supply. (At my age, it probably is.)

Of course, if you have a true "exhaust" fan that discharges to the outside, (the best) you will not have need for the carbon filter in your unit. R. E. W.

Great Value
This is basically a big sheet of carbon filter material. Cut to the size you need yourself and save lots of money. These filters cut to the exact size you need can cost twice as much as this big sheet that might give four or more filters.

Does this filter really work? My guess would be minimal since its pretty thin, but it is great at collecting dust so your main filter lasts longer. And since its black its easy to see if it needs cleaning or replacing.

Exceeded My Expectations
We recently renovated our kitchen and installed a new micro-oven among other appliances
The oven manufacturer didn't supply a charcoal filter, but had a suggested one. I purchased it.
It fit very poorly! I designed and made my own using the GE SmartAire filter material.
Works perfectly!!
